At SILEX, we believe a community is only as strong as the people who build it. Our commitment to community building goes beyond manufacturing high-performance products; it’s about investing in the skilled hands that install them.
Recently, we opened our Winnipeg fabrication floor to students from the Manitoba Construction Sector Council (MCSC). Working alongside our expert team, these students gained the vital, hands-on experience needed to master fiberglass window and door assembly.
Bridging the Skills Gap in Fenestration in Canada
The demand for high-performance building envelopes is growing across the country. However, a classroom can only teach so much. Specialized windows installation programs are essential to bridging the gap between theory and the job site.
By providing real-world field experience, we are helping to solve the skilled labor shortage and ensuring that fenestration in Canada meets the highest standards of energy efficiency and durability.

Why Practical Experience is in Our DNA
We have always operated with a simple truth: there is no substitute for the real thing. Practical experience is the best teacher, and this group from MCSC proved it by excelling in every task on the factory floor.
We taught the students the precision required to assemble high-performance fiberglass frames. This included:
Structural Integrity: Ensuring perfectly square assemblies for long-term durability.
Thermal Performance: Proper placement of seals and gaskets to maximize energy efficiency.
Hardware Integration: The technical calibration of multi-point locking systems and hinges.

Partnering with the Manitoba Construction Sector Council (MCSC)
By formalizing our work with the Manitoba Construction Sector Council (MCSC) under the “Foundations” initiative, we aim to bridge the gap between classroom theory and the technical realities of the construction site. This program is a core part of our mission to ensure fenestration in Canada remains world-class.
A Message from Our Team
“At SILEX, we believe that the strength of Canada’s building industry is forged on the factory floor. Partnering with the MCSC allows us to share the specialized skills required for high-performance window and door assembly. There is no substitute for the ‘real thing’; practical experience is the best teacher, and helping these students master their craft is how we help shape the future of this country.”
Shaping the Future of the Canadian Construction Workforce
The energy these students brought to our facility was incredible. We are proud to play a role in shaping the future of this country by fostering the talent that will build our homes and businesses for decades to come.
As the industry evolves, SILEX remains dedicated to ensuring our local community is ready to lead the way – one project a time.
