Passive House in Canada

Passive House is recognized internationally as the optimal way to build healthy, climate-resilient, affordable, and energy-efficient residential, institutional, and commercial buildings through all stages of design, construction, and livability.

At SILEX, we focus on minimizing energy use for heating and cooling, resulting in significant cost savings and a reduced environmental footprint.

Introducing the all-new SILEX 95H Series, a certified Passive House component engineered for superior energy efficiency, sustainability, and comfort.

SILEX Fiberglass Windows and Doors has officially published its first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) through the International EPD System - Square Image

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a standardized, independently verified document that provides transparent, quantitative data about a product’s environmental performance throughout its entire life cycle.

The core of an EPD is a scientific process called a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). The LCA systematically quantifies the environmental burdens associated with a product from “cradle to grave” (raw material extraction to disposal) or, more commonly, “cradle to gate” (raw material extraction to the point it leaves the factory)

This rigorous analysis ensures that every SILEX fiberglass window EPD provides transparent, verified data on energy use, emissions, and resource consumption

ENERGY STAR® Rated Windows and Doors Made in Canada

ENERGY STAR® is an international standard and symbol for premium energy efficient consumer products. Products that display the ENERGY STAR® symbol have been tested and found to meet or exceed higher energy efficiency levels without compromising performance.

In the window industry, ENERGY STAR® certification requires products to undergo rigorous testing by an accredited third party. Our windows and doors not only meet but exceed these standards, having undergone comprehensive evaluations for heat loss, air leakage, and solar heat gain performance.

      • Certified windows are 20% more energy efficient than the average window.
      • Certified doors are 15% more energy efficient than the average door.

Net Zero Home in Canada

A net-zero energy (NZE) home produces as much energy as it consumes on a yearly basis and has at least one on-site renewable energy system. NZE homes are not necessarily energy autonomous or off-grid because they can be connected to the electricity grid and supply energy back to the grid when the home produces more energy than it needs.

The Canadian Home Builders Association has a net-zero labelling program to provide consumers with the confidence they need to build a net-zero home.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)®

LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a globally recognized green building certification system. Third-party verification ensures buildings meet strict standards in energy savings, water efficiency, CO₂ reduction, and indoor environmental quality.

Windows play a critical role in achieving LEED® compliance because they directly impact a building’s energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and overall sustainability.

Partner with SILEX and contribute to a greener future, while enhancing your projects’ LEED® certification potential.
