About Silex

Silex is the Latin word for Silica. This is the chemical compound foundation from which our window frames and glass are made from. Silica is most commonly found in nature as quartz. Silica is one of the most complex and most abundant families of materials, existing both as several minerals and being produced synthetically.

Environmentally Friendly

Fiberglass Strings are made mostly from silica sand (sustainable natural resource), the lineal manufacture process consume the least embodied energy when compared to other common window frame materials such as Aluminum and PVC.

Low Maintenance

Fiberglass is the most stable material in virtually unlimited colors and an interior wood veneers. The maintenance-free frames stay true to form due to strength of materials. No need for sanding, painting, or staining.

Low Thermal Conductivity / Energy Efficient

Pultruded Fiberglass profile insulates better than any of the traditional window and door materials. The thermal conductibility ratio is 500x less than aluminum. Insulating the frame and sash components reduces the conductivity even further, allowing for the creation of some of the most energy efficient window and door systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Products and Services to you offer?
We manufacture fiberglass windows and doors, and everything is custom made to meet the needs of each customer and every space. Our high-quality products are ideal for home renovations and new construction as well as commercial projects. Our products are IEEE) compliant and are considered a green building material.
What are your most popular products?
What are the advantages of using fiberglass windows and doors?
Fiberglass is the strongest window frame material available other than metal, which is not a natural insulator. The frames are made of about 75 per cent glass fibers and 25 per cent resin. The glass fibers are made from silica sand, which is melted and spun. Silica sand is in abundant supply. Fiberglass is energy efficient, environmentally friendly and very strong. In fact, it is eight times stronger than vinyl, 33 times stronger than wood or vinyl composite and two times stronger than aluminum.
In addition the expansion and contraction rate of fiberglass is almost identical to the rate of glass. As a result there is less internal stress thereby making the weather stripping and entire system more airtight.
As an added benefit, fiberglass looks great and it is very low maintenance, so you won’t need to worry about sanding, painting or staining the products in the future.
I have gotten quotes on replacement windows. I like no-maintenance fiberglass frames, but they cost more than white vinyl windows. Are there real advantages to installing windows with fiberglass frames?
In my opinion, fiberglass windows are worth the extra initial expense. You can get some relatively inexpensive vinyl windows. If you compare the fiberglass windows to top-quality name-brand windows using other frames materials, though, often the cost is not much higher.
