Honouring Heritage and Community

Honouring Heritage and Community: MacKenzie Middle School Renovation

At SILEX, we take pride in projects that do more than just meet architectural specifications—they connect people, history, and the future.

One such project was the renovation of MacKenzie Middle School in Dauphin, in collaboration with MCM Architects. More than restoring a historic façade, this project allowed us to honour the school’s heritage while updating it for modern use. We supplied shaker-style fiberglass mahogany-grain doors and custom window mullions and SDL bars, carefully designed to preserve the original character while ensuring durability for generations to come.

Reflecting on this project, Zhen, owner of SILEX, shared:
“This project was a reminder of how thoughtful design and manufacturing can bridge past and future, connecting alumni who remember these halls with today’s students who continue to learn and grow in them.”

Projects like this show the power of thoughtful design to bridge the past and present, creating spaces where communities can share a common legacy. We are proud to contribute to projects that celebrate history, support education, and leave a lasting legacy.
