SILEX Fiberglass Windows & Doors

Passive House Pulse 2026 – Winnipeg

SILEX at Passive House Pulse Winnipeg: Building for a Better Future

How do we create buildings that feel comfortable year-round while using less energy? That question brought the building community together at Passive House Pulse Winnipeg on September 24, 2026.

SILEX was proud to support the event as a Bronze Sponsor at FortWhyte Alive Buffalo Crossing. For our team, supporting these conversations is part of helping architects, builders, and homeowners make informed window and door choices.

A Growing Passive House Community in Winnipeg

According to Passive House Canada’s event recap, the first Winnipeg Pulse welcomed 76 attendees. Presentations explored Buffalo Crossing’s design, deep energy retrofits, and the future of sustainable building in Manitoba.

Steph Fehr and Jordan Lanoway from Stantec discussed how building orientation, form, and shading help manage seasonal heating and cooling needs. Donald Proven of Sun Certified Builders Cooperative shared a Winnipeg home retrofit and highlighted the financial support needed to make similar improvements more accessible.

Together, these discussions offered a useful starting point for anyone planning a Passive House or green building project: consider how design decisions work together from the beginning.

Celebrating SILEX’s Passive House Component Certification

The evening also marked a milestone for SILEX. Passive House Canada presented SILEX with a component certification certificate, recognizing an achievement we were pleased to celebrate alongside the local building community.

Our PH95 tilt-and-turn Passive House window combines insulated construction, high-performance glazing, and European-style operation. The sash tilts inward for controlled ventilation or swings open for wider access and cleaning.

The SILEX PH95 is recognized by the Passive House Institute in the phB efficiency class for the cool, temperate climate zone. Project teams should evaluate the certified configuration against their building’s specific requirements, including location, glazing, window sizes, and installation details.

Connecting Window Choices to Project Goals

For architects, builders, and homeowners, selecting windows starts with understanding what the building needs. A useful early discussion includes:

    • Comfort: What are the priorities for spaces near windows throughout the year?

    • Performance: What thermal targets must the proposed window configuration meet?

    • Operation: How should each window provide ventilation, access, and ease of use?

    • Installation: How will the window connect with the surrounding wall assembly?

    • Documentation: Which drawings and performance information does the project team need?

These questions help turn broad sustainability goals into a clear product brief. They also give designers and suppliers a shared basis for reviewing options before specifications are finalized.

The SILEX Resources Centre brings together product guides, CAD drawings, performance information, and installation resources to support that process.
