SILEX Fiberglass Windows & Doors

Cross Cottage

    Residential Project

Rugged Elegance Meets High-Performance Engineering for Modern Cottage windows replacement

    project overview

Nestled in the rugged beauty of Kenora, Ontario, the Cross Cottage project is a masterclass in blending rustic log-home charm with modern, high-performance architectural glazing. This lakeside retreat required a solution that could withstand the extreme temperature swings of Northern Ontario while offering crystal-clear views of the surrounding wilderness.

For this project, the priority was thermal efficiency without sacrificing the “open” feel of the cottage. SILEX custom fiberglass windows were selected for their superior durability and low thermal conductivity, ensuring the interior remains cozy during Kenora’s harsh winters and cool during the humid summers.

    • Custom Geometric Shapes: To fit the dramatic roofline, custom-raked trapezoid windows were engineered to follow the vaulted log ceilings, flooding the Great Room with natural light.

    • Fiberglass Frames: Known for their strength and resistance to warping, these frames provide the structural integrity needed for large-scale glass spans.

    • Extreme Weather Rating: Engineered specifically for the Canadian climate, these units minimize heat loss and prevent condensation, even when the temperature drops well below freezing.
